The GPL tweets and IMs. Do you?

The Information Desk at the GPL has entered the 21st century! Oh, wait, we've done that already. We're going where no one has gone before! No, actually people are there now. Well, we'll have to join them.

Anyway, this is a long way to introduce two new services on our website. You can now IM our helpful Information Librarians questions right from our homepage! Chat with a GPL Librarian in real time and get the information you need. If we don't respond right away, we're helping someone in the library. Please be patient, and we'll be with you as soon as possible. Please have your library card handy just in case.

Also, the GPL now has a presence on Twitter! For those of you who don't know, Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send "updates" (or "tweets"; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) that are displayed on the user's profile page and instantly delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

So now you have even more ways to keep up with the library. Isn't that great?
